We have seen a 10 day stretch of 90 degree days, which is a longer heat wave than we saw all last summer. Temperatures will be well over 90 for another 4-5 days.
Expect isolated storms in the mountains this evening, then mostly clear skies overnight. Lows will only cool to 74 in the Upstate and 68 in the higher elevations.
Tuesday will be sunny and extremely hot. Highs will reach to 96-99 across the Upstate, while the humidity will make it feel as hot as 104. The mountains will reach to near 90 degrees, with the heat index in the mid 90s. The storms threat will be low, but isolated storms will be possible.
Temperatures will remain well above normal through Wednesday and Thursday, but storm chances will start to go up. Highs will reach the mid 90s, which is about 6-8 degrees above normal across the Upstate.
By late week rain will become more likely, all as a cold front moves in. The best chance of storms will come Saturday, then some much needed heat relief will arrive. Highs will be back in the 80s area-wide by Sunday into Monday.
