Thankfully, there are no skunks where we live, or at least I haven't seen any, not even flattened out on the road. Probably further out in the country.

I remember traveling back when I was a kid in Texas on the old 2-lane roads (no interstates back then), and, man, seemed like there'd be a fresh-killed skunk on the road about every 15 miles. We'd all yell out at the same time, "POLECAT!" Didn't have video games, movies to watch, etc., so it was a challenge for parents back then to think of things to keep the restless kids in the backseat "entertained." lol

Another one was the game Zit. Every time there was a white horse in a field, the first person to yell out "ZIT!" won. My dad won every single time, and he was the freakin' driver. Lord, families actually interacted back then, goofy and simple as it was.

Oh gee, I'm on a roll in Memory Land. Sorry. One time, the three of us kids were totally misbehaving in the backseat, cutting up, yelling, picking on each, basically just having fun. Then, my dad says, "Hey, could we have one minute of silence?" We all go silent, but snickering softly. Then, after about 1-1/2 minutes, my brother softly starts singing and then gets louder, "one minute of si-LENCE, one minute of si-LENCE" for about 20 seconds. My mother couldn't contain herself and busted out laughing. Damn those were fun trips during the summer.
