I've skiied in conditions that are almost like a skating rink before, you have to dig your edges into the ice. Somebody from Colorado would probably have a tough time and would fall a lot.

However, it takes much more strength in the legs to ski through deep powder, it's more of a workout. I have gone skiing in Vermont a few hours after a huge storm of 3 feet of powder, it's fun but it's not easy.

Once I skiied right into a snowdrift of powder, and I was stuck in powder up to my armpits. I could hardly move. It probably took me 10 minutes to work my way out of it.
